Frozen Planet

These shots featuring Hyoni Kang might not feature crystal ice caves, narwhals, or you know, David Attenborough in the background whispering from the safety of his Antarctic Science Mission jacket (which, I agree, renders this shoot by Chris Nicholls for Canada’s Flare magazine is somewhat lacking) but the icy birch woods and freezing mist and rocky outcrops are more than building my excitement for when the temperature really drops later this month.

Until then, I’m going to satisfy myself with thick coats, clunky boots, milky hot chocolates from the Yumchaa that’s just opened by work, and Attenborough’s latest television masterpiece, which apparently features a polar bear swimming lesson and more penguins. In a mud bath. Wonderful.
